What dwells within our Beating Hearts?
What dwells within our Beating Hearts? is a space of reflection and meditation with human connectivity and experiences through the reclaiming of physical, mental, and spiritual freedoms and spaces. This is a space of reflection of our own paths, a celebration of the things that makes us, us. Along with the celebration in the interconnectedness of each other's experiences.
Participants were asked to place their response to the following questions onto a rock. Each suitcase were filled with each corresponding question.
What are your dreams/hopes?
What would you take if you were displaced from your home?
What do you fear?
What are your freedoms and liberties?
One drop...one being
In the vast ocean....in the vastness of this tide.
We have traveled from near or far.
....seeking to be, seeking to belong.
Throughout the journeys of our ancestors, our families, our extended families and our own
There have been forces of water beyond control.
Barriers have been built
Uprooted roots… that keep on seeking to belong.
As our vessel navigates the valleys of this land
...we call home.
We carry our experiences , memories and our hearts... along with the hearts of others.
We have and will continue to find our way
Through the power that exists within
Within us...within our families, friends and community.
We are home and we belong.
